Our Team - TEAM CHEETAH RACING

5/29/2003:
Although gremlins are haunting us, we still continue to get things done in order to prepare for the June 7/8 NHRA race at ATCO. We have just finished installed our rear solid axle braking system and getting our wheel alignment finished soon. We lost some weight as a result of the rear suspension, which hopefully will add to the performance of this car, and need to fine-tune the 1.8 liter motor which we are still plan on competing with.

5/27/2003:
Thanks to John Grudynski at HyTech Exhaust, we received our modified collector for our header today. We can;t wait to try this puppy out ont he 1.8 liter motor. Although it was designed for the race motor, we feel it may add alot more from the Spoon header we are currently running. On anotehr note, we are also trying to get a new race motor running, spoke to Larry Widmer at ENDYN about getting a replacement piston and rods for the block. We need to locate a sleeved GSR block now ... for cheap ... wish us luck.

5/18/2003:
In preparation for the MIR IDRC race we tested the car, but blew up the clutch at ATCO. Our friends at ULTIMA Performance in Long Island NY, got us an ACT clutch overnighted to get us back on track.

5/17/2003:
Thanks to one of our sponsors, DRT Racing in NYC, we were able to dyno the 1.8 liter motor to at least get some testing done before the June 7/8th NHRA event at ATCO. We were able to pull about 220hp from this little stock 1.8 liter with more room for improvement but we did not deem it necessary to "kill" the motor on the dyno with many runs, so we're saving it for the track.

5/3/2003:
As luck would have it, our race motor decides to fail on us because of some oiling starvation from the #4 rod bearing. Two days before the NHRA Spring Nationals at Englishtown we lost our motor. Our team worked round the clock to get a mild 12:1 compression 1.8 liter motor in the car. Although untuned, we were able to qualify at the event, but unfortunately had ot run up against Jesus Padilla in the super fast rotary in the first elimanations round. We gave it our best shot nonetheless, after tuning as we got two test passes and datalogging with our Speedpro engine management system. This was good enough to get us an 11.9 pass down the track which was nowhere close to Padilla's mid-10 seconda pass. We will be back as soon as budget allows us.
